Flux #47 - New App Update, 2nd Crowdfunding Campaign, Holochain Transition
Hey everyone,
Eric here. I hope everyone’s doing well out there.
First, I want to acknowledge the dip in communication and pace of app updates these past two months. We’ve been silently making strides in app-wide design improvements and key outreach and fundraising plans that have come into play. We’re grateful for your patience as we get things to a point worth sharing and come up with a better system of keeping the community consistently up to speed. Here’s what’s new:
I. We just shipped an update that should finally resolve the android bug and iOS loading screen some of you were experiencing. This update also includes a new app-wide layout & user experience, push notifications, and several bug fixes. We’re nearly done with an initial version of groups and will launch those, along with customizable notifications, this month.
II. We’re launching our 2nd crowdfunding campaign the last week of February. We’re raising at least $500k, which will enable us to bring on most of the current team to full time capacity, hire another mobile developer and designer, and carry Junto from beta to public release. The launch of this crowdfunding campaign will also signal the launch of the Junto beta.
Crowdfunding is also a great way to raise awareness about this project and the timing to introduce Junto to many more people feels more relevant than ever. We need all hands on deck to make this happen and if you’re feeling called to help take things to the next level, we have an affiliate program you can sign up for. As an affiliate, you’ll get a custom link to our crowdfunding campaign and receive 15% of all the contributions you bring in through your efforts. You can sign up now and start sharing your link once we launch the campaign.
III. We’ve begun mapping out our roadmap and strategy for building new features with Holochain and migrating the current app over to a decentralized architecture. We’ll publish all the details of this in the crowdfunding campaign.
There seems to be a growing, shared understanding around the need for a holistic, human-centered approach to social media. Now is the time to deliver on a medium that is truly designed for our well being, can activate more mutual support in our lives, and ensure our communication is private, untethered, and protected.
I look forward to fulfilling on this commitment with you together.
Eric
