Hi, Dan here.
While the rest of the Junto team has been in NYC (with the exception of Josh who’s coming to New York in a week), I’ve been in Denver with some of the Holo dev team and interns. Right now, we are building Junto for iOS, Android, and web. Lots of transitions are underway to move Junto to a fully distributed architecture. We will be happy to share our progress on what we’ve learned moving from our previously centralized architecture. Expect some of our projects to be released to the Holochain community in the near future.
Happenings
Junto HApp (Holochain app) is prototyped. Written in TypeScript.
iOS UI (user interface) is prototyped. Now integrating with Junto HApp.
Web UI is prototyped. Now integrating with Junto HApp.
Junto core libraries are under dev. More on this in future posts.
We are all moving beyond social media and that one way is together. Feel free to reach out if you want to talk about bringing the power of Holochain to mobile devices.

Holochain Rust Developer Preview
Holochain’s prototype was written in a programming language called Go. They spent the past few months rewriting it in Rust and just released the Rust Developer Preview last week. Junto is refactoring our Holochain application using their latest Rust version to lay important foundation and optimize our platform’s efficiency. (Source: Medium)

#Innovation
Artificial Surf Waves
World champion surfer Kelly Slater partnered up with aerospace engineer and self-declared "wave-snob" Adam Fincham to create a perfect, infinite wave. Their latest prototype is a 700-yard-long freshwater lagoon boasting powerful 6-foot waves. Critics refer to wave-pool projects like this as the "uberfication", "bastardization", and even "pasteurization" of surfing, while supporters say it's a useful addition that can make surfing accessible to a much wider demographic. Regardless, it’s a pretty neat invention. (Source: Wired)

93% of Children Are Breathing Toxic Air
93% of children under 15 years old are breathing in toxic air that threatens their health and development, according to a recent report by the World Health Organization. Air pollution already accounts for 1 in 10 deaths of children under 5, and children are significantly more vulnerable to the negative effects than adults. (Source: Axios)

#WeeklyResonations
Here’s what our team found valuable this week:
Yaz:
hello!!! the following seems like a suitable and straightforward way to communicate a bit of where my head’s been at these past few days:
“Real genius is nothing else but the supernatural virtue of humility in the domain of thought." - Simone Weil
"If you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else." – Booker T. Washington
“I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought, and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.” —Gilbert K. Chesterton
“Do what you should. Don’t talk about what you should be doing.
Being a Doer instead of just a Thinker requires an insane amount of discipline and commitment. Doing involves risk but it’s the only way to make progress.
If you are not daring and focused enough, you can never get past the “thinking” stage of getting work done. Stop thinking you are at a disadvantage because of your weakness”

HAPPY TO BE HERE. love fall. happy halloween from nyc:) — yaz
Dora:
Indoor pollution has become just as real as outdoor pollution (causing eye-irritation, respiratory problems and headaches). With these three basic green plants we can grow all the fresh air we need indoors: Areca Palm, Mother-in-law’s Tongue, and Money Plant. Check out this Ted talk on a study done in New Delhi.
Creator of the Week (aka weekly demigod)
This week’s creator of the week is Maggie Doyne! Maggie is a 23 year old philanthropist whose journey began 5 years ago when she decided to go backpacking and came across Nepalese children who were working long hours of manual labor only to bring in a dollar a day. She then spent her entire life savings of $5,000 to buy a piece of land that eventually became a home for 30 Nepalese orphans. She’s now created a school for 200 children.
