Junto | Flux
weekly musings from The J
Eric here. There’s a lot that’s been happening in the Junto sphere and we’re excited to drop an update on what’s been going on.
First off, we’re kicking off a weekly newsletter called Flux. We’re starting this one off on a Friday, but expect the following issues to come your way every Wednesday. So far, Flux will provide updates, musings, relevant news, content our team finds valuable, and weekly artist features. We want to make sure this is worth your time so we’re all ears when it comes to your feedback.
We also just moved to the Bronx, NY (!). Arthur Brock’s (co-founder of Holochain) generous grant has enabled us to move into a shared space these next few months as we kick up the gears in product development and community building. Expect a funky Christmas sweater photo this winter :)
Speaking of Holochain, one of our own members Dan is spending 10 weeks with their team in Denver to build out some of the core features still needed for us to fully release. Damn, Daniel.
Finally, Holo announced they began manufacturing for their HoloPorts. This means things are still on track for us to open our beta in Q4 (2018) / Q1 (2019).
As always, this is a community effort so don’t hesitate to drop us a line if you want to get involved. Thanks again to everyone who’s spreading the love.
‘Til next time.
- Eric
PS. Holochain is one of the technologies we’re using to build Junto. It’s a framework that facilitates the creation of distributed applications free from centralized control. Read more about this here and here.

What’s new
Junto in the news
As Holochain gains more traction, so do the number of articles written about them. Check out this recent piece by ItsBlockchain featuring the top 8 dApps (distributed applications) being built over Holochain. (source)

Holo Milestones
Holo has begun manufacturing for their HoloPorts! Holo enables anyone to power the distributed internet by pooling together computing resources. This means better privacy, applications free from centralized control and much more.
KANYE
Sooo if you haven’t heard, Kanye took to Twitter to rant about social media. He called for a platform with no follower or like counts. He even went to announce making his YZY brand a non profit. Someone tell Kanye about Junto.
Still not worried about Facebook? Think again.
On top of the mountain of privacy concerns that have been brought to light, it’s been revealed that nearly 50 million users’ information has been comprised in a recent hack. (source)
// Aside - Our team had a discussion last night about acceptance and non-attachment. We brought up the book The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck and it showed up as a sponsored ad in Drea’s Instagram feed this morning. Just sayin’.
Did we miss something? Come across a piece that you want to share with a larger audience? Send it our way and we’ll put it in queue for our next newsletter.
